Jones v. Mississippi

593 U.S. 98 (2021)

Holding

Held that Miller and Montgomery do not require a sentencer to make a separate factual finding of permanent incorrigibility before sentencing a juvenile homicide offender to life without parole; a discretionary system in which the sentencer can consider the defendant's youth is constitutionally sufficient. The decision did not disturb Miller's holding (no mandatory juvenile LWOP) or Montgomery's holding (Miller is retroactive).
